It's understandably hard for most recruiters to adapt a short peanut NOT butter example (yes, that's an actual example string used by one search engine) to candidate bios, resumes, etc., that combine special commands and targeted search against associations, websites, key phrases that eliminate job postings, etc. So please don't lump them all together, and don't assume laziness is the reason that someone wants to improve their sourcing results. However, I agree there are far more cost-effective options than AIRS to get one's sourcing training (CyberRecruitingSecrets.com, Recruiting-Online.com, RiseTrends.com and TechTrak.com, to name a few).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8947853988735976143.post-50669558727217327382008-03-13T12:10:00.000-07:002008-03-13T12:10:00.000-07:00beautiful pictures!beautiful pictures!Antonellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05280206512130980223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8947853988735976143.post-69592167137361000432008-02-28T15:21:00.000-08:002008-02-28T15:21:00.000-08:00Great post and I can't agree more. As a lifer Recruiter, I have "recruited" people from some of the strangest places... airplanes/buses, coffee shops and once an IT Project Manager that I rear ended on I-5. Great recruiters never meet a stranger. However, the greatest of recruiters can teach their hiring managers how to become "mini recruiters". Getting your hiring managers to understand the importance of networking and recruiting at every possible event is key. Now that is LinkedIN -... turbo charged!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8947853988735976143.post-61658827755247613142008-02-20T22:33:00.000-08:002008-02-20T22:33:00.000-08:00Good post Bry! I think Recruiters have to constantly "be on", this market is moving fast.Barboursmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03883315985960522135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8947853988735976143.post-1416176622552201532008-02-12T12:00:00.000-08:002008-02-12T12:00:00.000-08:00Brian, I like the post and agree whole heartedly. ...Brian,
I like the post and agree whole heartedly. As the main recruiter for my IT company, I cannot afford to not be "always on."
One point I have been thinking much upon lately is while a good recruiter is always on for their company, are we "on" for networking with other recruiters.
If I do a good job sourcing a req and have three plus strong candidates, I have invested a significany amount of my time and energy. My hiring manager is happy and selects the top candidate. What about the other two?
How do we as recruiters leverage that time spent. If we don't have any other positions, it is difficult, but I bet there are open reqs out there for other like companies. We work in an industry that is very expensive to source, traditional recruiting fees range upwards of 20%, there is little flexibility or variance from this model. I don't know about your executive team but mine would happily pay a small referral fee for the right candidate. Can we leverage our own efforts to add value to the time already spent?

Dan Hall
HR Manager
Visible Technologies
Seattle
dhall@visibletechnologies.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
